چکیده
Abstract Rapid developments in educational technology higher education are intended to make learning more engaging and effective. At the same time, cognitive load theory stresses limitations of human architecture urges developers design tools that optimise learners’ mental capacities. In a 2-month study we investigated university students’ with an AI-enriched digital biology textbook integrates 5000-concept knowledge base algorithms offering possibility ask questions receive answers. The aimed shed light on differences between three sub-types (intrinsic, germane extraneous) their relationship gain, self-regulated usability perception while students interacted book during introductory course. We found displayed beneficial pattern significantly than both intrinsic extraneous loads showing they were engaged meaningful throughout study. A significant correlation accessing linked suggested available AI-book indicates may support deep learning. Additionally, results showed perceived non-optimal design, which deflects resources away from processing accompanied lower gains. Nevertheless, reported substantially favourable unfavourable opinions AI-book. findings provide new approaches for investigating types relation emerging education. also highlight importance optimally aligning technologies architecture.

How to Put the Pieces of AI Together Again
Since the 1970s AI as a science has progressively fragmented into many activities that are very narrowly focused. It is not clear that work done within these fragments can be combined in the design of a human-like integrated system – long held as one of the goals of AI as science. A strategy is proposed for reintegrating AI based around a backward-chaining analysis to produce a roadmap with par...
متن کاملThe Joy of Learning. Main Ideas, Scaffolding, and Thinking: building new concepts by modeling: HOWTO
Walking through life can be fun and interesting, dull and boring or simply frustrating. Our walk is based not on our talents but on our decisions. Our skill in making decisions that add a little spice to each day depends on our ability to bring together facts and concepts, develop a picture of the desired outcome and then make a decision that brings us closer to that outcome. In our experience,...

Open education materials related to the author's HCI textbook were released in 2013 as a MOOC, published on interactiondesign.org, and used for flipped classroom teaching. Work is in progress to link these free open educational resources including substantial video and quizzes (some tutor-only) together with the (paid-for but open-to-all) book, to create a 'semantic textbook'. متن کاملAn Analysis of Eye Movement and Cognitive Load about the Editorial Design in Elementary Science Textbook
This study is for the implication of editorial design in science textbooks which are designed for student-centered instruction, when the elements of the editorial design are different, we focus on how the students’ eye movement and cognitive load change. For this, we produced a new book for 5th grade students in elementary school that is modified by the elements of the editorial design about th...
